Policy.

This Privacy Policy explains how vChat! handles information when you use the app. vChat! is an independent Twitch chat app operated by Vopori.

The short version

  • Most of what vChat! knows about you never leaves your phone.
  • Signing in creates one small record on our service: who you are on Twitch, and what device and app version you are running. Nothing else is sent automatically.
  • Diagnostics stay on your device unless you tick the box to attach them to a support ticket.
  • There is no advertising SDK, no analytics SDK, no advertising identifier, and no sale of personal information.
  • You can delete your server-side record from inside the app: Settings → Data → Delete my vChat! data.
  • We never receive your Twitch password, your OBS password, or your stream key.

Information stored on your device

vChat! stores most app data locally on your device. This may include:

  • Your Twitch sign-in and refresh tokens, saved in the device's secure credential storage.
  • Your saved Twitch accounts and active account selection.
  • App settings, muted words, favorite and recent channels, pinned and recent emotes, and appearance preferences.
  • A local mention inbox and the history of whispers you send through vChat!.
  • OBS connection details that you enter or scan. The password is kept in secure credential storage; the host and port are kept in ordinary app storage.
  • A short sanitized diagnostic history containing app events, errors, incident references, and the current app screen. It does not contain Twitch credentials, chat or whisper text, OBS connection details, stream keys, or camera content.

Full live chat history is kept in memory while you use the app and is not stored in a permanent vChat! chat database. Images and emotes may be temporarily cached by the operating system or image library.

Information processed by Vopori

vChat! uses a Vopori-operated Cloudflare service to provide signed-out channel discovery and search. That service may receive search terms, Twitch category or broadcaster identifiers, and standard network information such as your IP address and request headers.

When you sign in, the service validates your Twitch access token with Twitch but does not store the token. It stores your Twitch user ID and login, first and most recent service dates, app and build version, iOS version, device model and type, StoreKit status reported by the app, log opt-out status, and any service suspension and reason. vChat! does not collect an advertising identifier or a persistent hardware identifier.

To be exact, signing in stores these fields and nothing more: your Twitch user ID and login, the date first and most recently seen by the service, the app version and build number, the iOS version, the device model and device type, the StoreKit Pro status reported by the app, and — only if applicable — a service suspension date and reason. vChat! does not collect an advertising identifier or a persistent hardware identifier, and does not record which channels you watch, what you type, or who you talk to.

If you report a message, the service stores the selected channel, sender, message identifier and text, your Twitch identity when signed in, report status, and moderator response. If you request support, it stores your Twitch identity, optional email, ticket content, replies, and ticket status.

What "attach diagnostics" actually sends

Diagnostics are collected on your device at all times but are never transmitted unless you tick Attach diagnostics when submitting a support ticket. When you do, the bundle contains exactly:

  • The time the bundle was generated, and a note recording that you attached it.
  • App version, build number, and bundle identifier.
  • Device OS name, OS version, OS build, model name, model identifier, device year class, and whether it is a physical device or a simulator.
  • A random session identifier generated at app launch and discarded when the app closes, plus the name of the screen you were on.
  • The last twenty app events: a timestamp, a severity, an area such as "service" or "twitch", a short event name, and structured values such as an HTTP status code or a duration.

Before anything is recorded, values are filtered and redacted. Any field whose name suggests a token, password, secret, authorization header, cookie, message, chat, whisper, email address, host, network address, or stream key is dropped entirely, and bearer tokens, email addresses, IP addresses and URLs are stripped from free text. Diagnostics therefore contain no credentials, no chat or whisper content, no OBS connection details, no stream key, and no camera content.

Apple In-App Purchase transactions remain handled by Apple; the service receives only the current Pro status reported by the app and cannot grant, revoke, or refund purchases.

Vopori does not operate first-party advertising or analytics in vChat!, does not use any third-party analytics or attribution SDK, and does not sell your personal information.

Services vChat! connects to

Features you choose to use may send information directly to third-party services:

  • Twitch: authentication, chat, whispers, moderation and creator actions, streams, followed channels, blocked users, and account information.
  • 7TV, BetterTTV, and FrankerFaceZ: channel or Twitch user identifiers used to retrieve emotes, badges, and username cosmetics.
  • Community chat-log services: channel names and selected usernames used to retrieve available public chat history.
  • Apple: App Store product information, purchases, restores, and offer-code redemption.
  • OBS: a direct connection from your device to the OBS instance you configure on your local network.

The standard Twitch player may display advertising and load resources operated by Twitch or Amazon. Each third-party service processes information under its own privacy policy.

Equipment recommendations

vChat! may show a Gear section containing curated equipment recommendations. These links open in your browser and may be affiliate links, meaning vChat! can earn a commission on a resulting purchase at no extra cost to you. This is disclosed wherever the links appear.

vChat! does not track your taps, does not add any identifier to these links, and receives no information about what you view or buy. Once a link opens, the retailer and its affiliate network set their own cookies and apply their own privacy policies, exactly as if you had visited the retailer directly. Any performance figures we see come from the retailer's aggregate reporting and are not linked to individual users.

Camera access

Camera access is requested only when you open the OBS QR-code scanner. QR codes are processed to fill in OBS connection details. vChat! does not upload camera frames, save photographs, or record video or audio.

Your choices and data retention

You can remove a saved Twitch account, clear mentions, delete locally stored whisper threads, remove favorites and recents, or reset app settings from within the app. Removing the app or clearing its storage removes ordinary local app data, subject to operating-system backup and secure-storage behavior. Signing out preserves saved account authorization for convenient account switching; remove the saved account if you also want its locally stored credentials deleted.

Your server-side record is retained while the account uses vChat! services. Open reports and support tickets are retained while needed to respond; resolved moderation reports are automatically removed after 90 days. Administrative audit records are retained for safety and accountability. Data held by third parties is controlled by those services.

Deleting your data

Signed-in users can erase their server-side record from inside the app at Settings → Data → Delete my vChat! data. This immediately and permanently removes your stored profile details, your support tickets and their replies, any support-site sessions, and moderation reports you filed.

Two things are deliberately kept, and we would rather say so than surprise you:

  • Your chat-log opt-out, if you set one. It exists only to keep your messages out of log lookups, so deleting it would put them back — the opposite of what deletion is for. It is a suppression record, not a profile.
  • Moderation reports other people filed about you. Reports you filed are yours and are deleted. Reports about you are another user's safety record, and a delete button that clears open complaints would be a way to erase evidence.

Deletion does not change anything on Twitch, does not cancel or refund an App Store purchase, and does not remove data stored only on your device — use the in-app controls or delete the app for that. Using vChat! again after deleting creates a new record. You can also contact us for access to, or deletion of, your data if you would rather not use the in-app control.

Children

vChat! is not directed to children under 13. Twitch account use is also subject to Twitch's age requirements and terms.

Security and changes

We use reasonable safeguards appropriate to the information handled, but no storage or transmission system is completely secure. This policy may be updated as vChat! changes. The effective date above will be revised when material changes are made.

For privacy questions, support requests, or data requests, open a support ticket. Tickets are handled in one place and stay attached to your account, so nothing is lost in an inbox. Signed-in users can also erase their data directly from the app at Settings → Data → Delete my vChat! data.
